Random Ferret Update:
I was playing with all my little weasels yesterday when Ena wandered over for his daily snuggle. He curled up in my lap and just relaxed. I took the moment to flip him over so I could look at a huge bruise I had noticed on his leg a few days ago.
Bruising easily is not uncommon with cancer ferrets, so I just wanted to give it a quick look. It did not seem to hurt him when I touched it but it looked nasty. However, it was during this close observation that I noticed something odd.....hair was growing up through the bruise.
It is so weird how one can overlook the obvious like that after getting so used to seeing the ferret everyday. Upon noticing the growing hair I ran my hand along his mostly bald body and I was quick shocked to find a thin layer of peach fuzz over most of his lower body.
I almost cried. I swear I was so amazed. My special man is growing hair again!
For those that don't remember: Ena is my adrenal ferret with 80% hair loss on his body. He came into my home this way and upon visiting my vet he recommended we do a 'watch and wait' treatment. Because his only sign was hair loss (no pain or trouble going to the bathroom) he did not want to start meds with possible side effects until it was necessary.
He should not be growing hair again on his own. He is not taking meds to combat his problem. But he is...he is growing hair again! I am so happy. I can't wait to show my vet when I take them in for their shots later this month (and to get him another blood smear done).
Had to share. ^_^
