Comedian-in-Chief?
(Yeah, yeah, I still need to put up my September monthly goals progress. I've been lazy :-P. I'll have them up soon, hopefully.)
Last night was apparently the 63rd Annual Alfred E. Smith Memorial Foundation Dinner. Yeah, I'd never heard of it either. Until this morning on my drive to the Metro station I heard Barack Obama doing stand-up comedy on C-SPAN radio.
(As an aside: Yes, I listen to C-SPAN radio in the car. It's better than radio DJs and commercials. I also sometimes listen to NPR, until they get too liberally biased. anailia says I'm too grown up.)
Now, Obama doesn't exactly have the comedic timing of a true comedian, but after a moment I started to smile. Then snicker. Then upon uttering this gem, I literally laughed out loud in my car:
Contrary to the rumors you have heard, I was not born in a manger.
I was actually born on Krypton and sent here by my father Jor El to save the Planet Earth.

Gotta love the superhero references *grin*
Since I'm only in the car for about 10 minutes, I didn't get to hear it all, but apparently both Obama and McCain got their laugh on at the dinner:
