Planar Chaos prerelease

Well I got back from the Planar Chaos pre-release today. I won prizes! I've been to the Onslaught, Legions, Mirrodin, Darksteel, Betrayers, Cold Snap, and Time Spiral prereleases and never won enough matches to win prizes. I'd never been that consistent a player and the tournaments are so luck-dependent. Even today my winning was mostly luck, as my deck had a Crovax, Ascendant Hero and a Mystic Enforcer. And I still went only 2-1-1 (two wins, 1 loss, 1 draw) which was just barely enough to get prizes (three booster packs of Planar Chaos). Still, it was quite a treat, and lotsa fun to boot!

My draw was an intentional draw after I went 1-1 against a guy who had TWO of the WGB Dragon Legends in his deck. He offerred me a draw at the beginning of the match and I declined, since it was only my third match and I wanted the chance to get three match wins. I won the first game of the match and then he won the second, and offerred me a draw again, as with a draw we were both guaranteed prizes at this point (we had already both won our 2 previous matches). I thought about it and decided to go with the guaranteed prizes.

My fourth & final match was probably the most intense. I won the first game due to getting both Crovax AND the Enforcer out. The second game I had just reached Threshold and was about the get the Enforcer out when my opponent stormed Empty the Warrens for 4 Goblins and my Enforcer wasn't enough to protect me at my precarious life total (here is where Crovax woulda been more helpful). The last game was lost because of the red timeshifted Severed Legion and me not having any red or artifact creatures in my deck, and having already discarded one of my Necrotic Slivers to Greenseeker, used the other one on one of his cards before the Goblin, and not drawing my Sun Lance, the only other card I had that could deal with it. He slowly wittled me down and I wasn't able to put enough pressure on him.

So I ended the day at the lowest level possible to recieve prizes, but I was happy. Yay fun!
