Monday, Sleepy Monday...

Easter Monday was *brutal*. I was exhausted, and the shift back to school schedules after a week off was a little painful. Then I got to the gym and ... well ... let's just say that the scales reflected exactly how much ham, potatoes au gratin, coconut cake, key lime pie, toblerone and wine had been involved!

All that aside, the kids did make it to school with breakfast in their bellies and shoes on their feet. And Chris and I did make it to the gym, and later to work. I had just enough time in lieu of lunch to go to Wegmans and get the handful of things I'd forgotten (and cat litter - we always need cat litter). Work largely involved a lot of planning for the upcoming reorganization. A lot of people are really concerned about structural change to the org, and I just can't get excited about it. It was bound to happen. It's not like our current structure is even rational let alone effective. I don't fear for my job, and I don't hope for opportunity. So why worry?

Leftovers made for an easy dinner, and ham is just as tasty cold. The lack of cheesy potatoes was marked by my son. Chris went off to Trumansburg Community Chorus, and I got the kids in bed and watched some Hulu. I had a Glee, a Castle and a Bones in my queue. We did run out of bourbon.

The middle of the night was interrupted by thunder at the beginning, and the freaky territory call of a red fox towards the dawn. Even though I know what it is, it's really a piercing and haunting cry.

So, aside from the mundane aspects of life and night-screaming wildlife, I got the good news that the French Black Copper Marans that I wanted hatched. I can drive to Cazenovia to pick up chicks on Thursday.

And, we're starting to put together the summer schedule of camps and vacations and visiting and visitors. I balk a little at how short my summer feels. The kids have school right through the end of June, and Cornell opens mid-August. That gives me about 6 weeks. I have to try to get more good times in despite the school calendars.

Speaking of school calendars, the Cornell faculty are revising the academic calendar and have put a proposal out for comment through May 15. I've tried to think of some meaningful feedback, but I'm just too tired to come up with something meaningful.
