So again, 6:15 alarm and Chris was up to make breakfast for the kids: fried eggs on toast. He also proofed out the rustic sourdough, and baked that up. I made Paul's lunch, Maddy packed hers, dog was fed and walked, chickens released to forage, and kids on the bus by 7. Then, packed up the gym bags and made it in to the fitness center

2) I never kept track of Torchwood eps by title, so I'm having a hard time following along at home. :)
3) Retiring ResNet what now?
4) I keep parsing Eduroam as "E'duro Am", like some kind of enduro race. :)

2) Check. Will try to add a 5-word plot summary.
3) Oh yes. ResNet is dead and gone. No such service any longer. I PMPd that retirement last year. Kinda sad, really.
4) Edu-roam. Service that ships Wi-Fi authentications back to travelers' home institutions so they don't need to credential here.

3) Absorbed into the CIT HelpDesk, I presume?
4) Oh, I know--I figured out the proper parsing of the word early on, but my mind still wants to read it the other way. I'd have to see it capitalized EduRoam to think it properly. :D

3) Oh heck, that (ResNet merging with HD) happened years ago. There hasn't been a separate ResNet team in easily five years, probably longer because memory is the first thing to go. No, no I mean the technology. I retired the ResNet databse, elimnated the DBAs positions. The service is gone. No ResNet web pages, nothing to register for when you move in. Caput.

3) How's that work? There's gotta still be network service in the dorms--how can there not be a backend to administer it?

2) Ubiquitous Wi-Fi. They never even think of plugging in. Sure, we left the ports active, and if they do plug in (mostly printers, X-Boxes and the like) they have to register in DNSDB but it's the same campus DB as everywhere else. Just another net. Last year it was less than 30%, the number of wired registrations. This year, I think it will be even fewer. Nobody even thinks of jacking in anymore.

2) Well, that's a heck of a change. I remember the not-even-half-ass Red Rover service... (and no gamer worth their salt plays on wifi! ;)
