I'll be watching the upcoming presidential debates (and resulting commentary) very closely, if for no other reason than to watch the Bush administration try to justify some rather outrageous claims made by our very own Dubya.
Case in point: From
CNN "[Condoleezza] Rice said Bush did not misspeak when he said that the network of Pakistan's A.Q. Khan -- the founder of Pakistan's nuclear program who was caught selling secrets on the global black market -- had been 'brought to justice.'
Khan is living in a villa and was pardoned this year by Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf. None of Khan's co-conspirators have been brought to trial.
Asked how that could be interpreted to mean Khan has been brought to justice, Rice said, 'He has been brought to justice because he's out of business.'"
Never mind that there are hundreds of detainees in Guantanamo Bay who are being held without being charged with a crime - we Bushies will take a man who probably deserves to be "brought to justice" moreso than a lot of those detainees, and make him spend the rest of his life living in some Pakistani villa, jobless. That'll show anyone else who was even thinking about selling nuclear secrets on the black market - they might lose their jobs! shudder
