Overall, a success. Some lessons learned:
- Triangles are strong. Other shapes are tricksy and not to be trusted.
- The miter saw was a good choice; at least one piece required a smooth compound cut. You can't do rip cuts on them, though, so I might get a table saw anyway.
- Sawdust collection mechanisms on saws are a joke; find a space you don't mind cleaning up afterwards. Next time I'll try tacking up a sheet that's draped into a bucket.
- I'm still bad about stripping screws. Either I need some firmer screws, or some longer drill bits to make deeper pilot holes. I kept struggling to get the (#8) screws in without mangling them. Steel screws seemed to work better than zinc, but I had trouble with both.
Next up: planter boxes.
