Productive! Or my imitation of it, at least

The boy left for Arkansas on Friday where he will spend a glorious three weeks working 12 hours a day in what I'm sure is some of the loveliest summer weather in the country. This totally sucks, but I made the best of it yesterday by having a quite productive morning. There is actually food in my apartment for once. I decided that having a bunch of Trader Joe's frozen things in the freezer is probably a good idea for situations where say, I'm stuck at home because my trainer overworked my legs in the worst possible way and every step I take is excruciatingly painful. Not that that happened to me a few days ago or anything. But yeah, at times like these, I realize that the only human-consumable products in the house are gin and peanut butter, and that sucks. Trader Joe's is my savior, and so cheap too. I'm happy.

I also went to the local library and picked up a few guides to Kauai. I have recently re-discovered the joy that is the library. At first it wasn't a cost-saving move so much as a space-saving one. I realize that I buy a book at Borders, read it, and it goes on the shelf never to be read again even if it is superfantastic due to a lack of time. My bookshelves are overfull and I have to lug these books from apartment to apartment every time I move, then I realize that borrowing books instead of buying them would be the solution. Now of course I realize it saves a lot of money too, which is icing.

In the afternoon, Kim and Nik came over, I instructed Nik on the finer points of GTA IV play and watched as he went on cop killing sprees. Kim and I drank wine and poured over the Kauai guides, and I'm starting to get super-psyched about the trip and getting an itinerary together in my head.
