Last week, my building turned the water off to fix some plumbing issues. Ok, I thought we had leaky pipes or whatever. On Tuesday, they turned off the water again for more maintenance. Yesterday morning when I took my shower, I had to have the hot water on pretty high to get the water warm. The hot water kicked in towards the end of the shower, so I just thought one of my neighbors must have used a lot of it up during their shower. Well, this morning I get up and it's 27 degrees outside and about 66 in my apartment. I run into the bathroom and start the water running thinking this way maybe it'll be hot when I get in. No. I had the hot water all the way on and none of the cold on. The water was cold. So I quickly showered and got out. I was freezing. I couldn't get warm. So I stopped at the front desk on my way to work and told the guy that two days in a row now I haven't had any hot water. He first asks, "Really?" I don't know why he would think I was making this up. So I tell him that before Tuesday, my hot water worked just fine but now I don't have any in the shower. I do have it in the bathroom sink and the kitchen sink. So he looks amazed for a minute and then tells me that a lot of people are having that problem now and they're thinking they need to call someone about it. Ok, so let me get this straight - several residents in this building who are paying an obscene amount for rent, do not have any hot water in their showers, and this guy's telling me that they're thinking about calling someone? Let's hope they go ahead and call someone or else I'm going to start complaining everyday and just stop showering or find some way to protest.
