Yesterday was so much fun. It was Daniel's birthday. I told him that I had a surprise for him but then realized I was too excited to not tell him. I took him ice skating for his birthday. He had said that he wanted to go, so I figured it was his birthday so I should take him. I looked online and found out that the National Gallery of Art Sculpture Garden turns its fountain into a skating rink in the winter time. It was about 25 degrees when we went. I was freezing. I wore long johns, jeans, two long sleeved shirts, a fleece, a jacket, and a hat and gloves. I was okay when I was moving around but then realized that because of the wind, my face was numb and I was having trouble saying the words that you have to form with your mouth. It was weirding me out. But it was so cool to be ice skating and seeing the sculptures and then the National Archives, the Natural History Museum, the Hirschorn, the National Gallery of Art, the Capitol, and the Washington Monument. I was duly impressed. The ice was a little rough but still it was fun. Daniel fell once which is pretty good considering he had never ice skated before and had only rollerbladed once.
We headed back home because the Saints were playing, and I had volunteered Daniel to host a party for the game. As we were walking into our building from the metro, we realized it was snowing outside. We went out, and I was playing in it. It was so cool. I remember seeing snow fall when I was in kindergarten but I don't think that really counts. It was falling fast too. The party was at 3 and I was tired so I went in and took a quick nap. I didn't want to sleep through the snow but luckily it was still snowing when I woke up. I went down to Daniel's and there were some people already there. I kept getting up to check and make sure it was still snowing. It snowed for about 6 hours. I went downstairs and made snow angels and danced around in the snow. It was so cool. I was having a blast. It was still on the ground this morning when I walked to work. Everything looked amazing. There was just this white blanket over everything. I've seen it all everyday for the past 8 months but today it was so incredibly different. I think the weather guy said it's supposed to snow some more either today or this week. That's fine with me. I can walk to work through the tunnels so it doesn't affect me. I just want to be able to play in it.
