So the party on Friday was a lot of fun. It was good to just get out and cut loose and have a good time. I ended up not getting to bed until 3:30am. That was a little late. But I slept until noon so that was fine.
Ok, now I know I'm from the South and things are different up here but I was not expecting what happened yesterday.
I went to the grocery store with Alan. We went to Shopper's instead of Harris Teeters because its bigger and has more. So we each had a cart and we did our shopping and checked out and headed out to the car. He had parked a couple of rows over from the store (it was one of many stores in the shopping center). We walked down one of the rows because we didn't want to squeeze between the cars and risk hitting them. So we get to the end of the row and it looks like Alan hit a crack because his cart stopped suddenly. So I laughed at him and went around him to avoid the cart and it felt like I hit an invisible wall. I stared at the ground trying to figure out what had just happened. There weren't any cracks on the ground and the pavement was relatively smooth. Alan then sees an antennae in the ground at the end of the row where we were. We figure out that it's a magnetic field or whatever you want to call it. So we try and pull our carts back and we can't. The wheels won't turn anymore. It took everything I had to pull the cart 10 ft. Alan left his cart and went and got his car. The carts didn't look very fancy at all. They were the old metal ones. We got all our groceries packed up and Alan went and talked to a cart boy and it turns out that they have a field set up around the front of the store to prevent people from stealing the carts. Once you hit the line, the wheels lock automatically and you can't go anywhere. There weren't any signs or anything to warn you about it either. It was the funniest thing.
