STATES =] (in a nutshell)
okay, so we got there friday afternoon and checked out the fields and had the whole little cook out slash introduction of the teams thingy. it was okay. We were picking out the teams we thought would suck and stuff. and that night we went looking for a food lion.. which is pretty far away. What kind of town doesn't have a walmart or foodlion within a five to ten minutes drive? uhh ladysmith doesnt.
my room-mates were Beth and Stephanie (my friend from Grafton.) and we had a lot of fun together. :]
then on saturday we had our first game. We played Shore the State Champions of last year. We lost 15 to 1 :-/ it was kinda embarressing. but then we had another game like twenty minutes after. We played East Orange County. they scored one run the first inning and then we scored three in the next. (I got walked twice and scored both times. [i have a way cool picture of me sliding into home]) and then the other team scored another run. eek! so its the top of the sixth inning and we up by one run and then it starts to thunderstorm. bad. so we had to go inside the complex building and do the whole wait twenty minutes after lightning thing... but then it started to pour. so they called the games. We didn't have to make up the game because it was past the fifth inning and because we were winning in the fifth we won the game. :) so woohoo! that night we ordered pizza.. but it didnt come until like midnight.. so we got to bed late.
the next day we had another double header. We played at 2 and at 7. Our two o'clock game was really good. We were down by one in the second inning. then we scored three in the fifth and in the sixth the other team scored two so we were tied three and three. then in the top of the 7th inning we rallied and scored 12 runs; batting through our line up three times! I had some really good hits too!. it was a great game. then we chilled for a while and got some food... then we played Bristol. :-/ and we lost. it was really sad because i know we could have won.. but we didnt. I cried a lot.. because i just.. wanted to win so badly... and it's my last year of little league.. I didn't want to go out in 5th place.. you know? anyway. so then we went to texas road house to eat. and we told the people it was Tiffany's birthday and made her ride the saddle. it was pretty funny. and i'm pretty sure she hated us.. but she loved it. ;] haha. and stayed in the hotel one more night... and then we came home today.
states was a lot of fun. our record was 2-2 which is breaking even.. so at least its not a losing record. and we had so much fun. I've never played on a team that got along so well. It was pretty great. :] so that's it. now i'm at home finishing my book and sulking about our loss.
