21 years ago today we were all shocked out of our normal lives by the events of the terrorist attacks on the world trade center towers. I haven't posted anything on live journal a long time, but I thought this was an appropriate moment to take a quick return.
We've all seen the pictures. We all heard the stories and we've all seen the remembrances. Last year's remembrance was terribly poignant because after 20 years of shedding blood and doing our best to help stabilize the country, we left in shame and disgrace.
This country was forever changed by that event but not necessarily in the ways most people would think. The damage done to our psyche to our feeling of invincibility that is visible and strong. But the damage done internally as this country after a short period of unity has become incredibly divided. The rise of fake media and conspiracy theories and the leadership of this country on both sides agging on everyone in that direction has led to a greater destruction of this country than I think was ever even imagined by the terrorists that morning. So here we are 21 years later trying to find a way to put this country back together. But if our leadership at the highest level can't get together then how will we the people ever going to get together?
