Miserable

Today sucked ass.

It started good, with a free trip to the Aquarium. I took the sketchbook, we caught the bus, no problem. Except it was Little Kid Day, so there were eighty million elementary school kids on field trips or just wandering around with their parents at every turn. We left much earlier than I would have normally wanted, because there were so many kids that staying at any exhibit for any length of time was impossible.

And then we decided to eat, and discovered I was broke. And no ATM would give me money, which has happened before because my credit union is a POC. So I thought it was no big deal and so Justine and I went to McDonalds. Which took forever because the damn bus drivers were being incredibly stupid. So we discovered I had $10 in ones, got some food, and then I went home to get ready for work. The rain had cleared up, so I went to the bus stop sans umbrella. The driver tried to pass me and I very nearly had to leap in front of it to get him to stop. And it started raining again. I also had to dig up money for the second bus, because my new bus pass has yet to arrive in the mail, a week later. WTF?

When I got to work, I tried the ATM one last time. Apparently my card had been reported as lost. I wanted to call the credit union, but I don't have much money on my phone and I wanted to save that for something more important, like getting home after work. So I had no money, no way to call to question this, and I had to go to work.

It rained like a son of a bitch. I refused on principle to wear rain gear, but eventually I wished I had checked some out once I realized my sleeves were so wet I would be warmer not wearing the jacket. A friend of mine came in to work crying because her family's going through a tough time and making it a nightmare for her, so I was worried. And I just found out who's going to Tokyo to represent us as the Best Skipper, and I am very upset with the choices made. Totally rigged, totally unfair. I went home four hours in because I'd hurt myself somehow coming back from lunch. My heel couldn't stand going down stairs. So I waited in the rain for the bus and tried not to cry.

I called to question the "lost card" that has never left my posession. Apparently the credit union has sent out a new card which I never recieved, and the computer system is being updated so the girl on the phone couldn't tell if there was something untoward about the situation. There was no announcement this would happen. She didn't even know about it until she looked at the note written in my file. This was apparently all across the credit union. She gave me another number to call for more help. Which was automated and had absolutely nothing useful. After attempting several more numbers, I have discovered my account has been frozen, presumably because I frantically tried to find out WTF was going on with my card by checking different ATMs. I'm very upset right now. Was there a new card sent? If so, why is it supposed to take 7-8 weeks to arrive, which would, if it was sent out on Jan 5, as the woman claimed, mean it will be about a month before I have access to my money at all. Why wasn't I told? Why does their computer system have me, but have a completely different number for my card?

Basically, today sucked and I'm freaking out over my money situation. Until this is resolved, I'm basically working for free because I have my paycheck direct-deposited. FUCK.
