Last night I saw Eklipse, Delain, and Kamelot. Wonderful!
Eklipse were very cute, although at the beginning one of the violinists seemed a bit out of tune or something? Having had that problem plenty of times myself I understand why. I'm surprised they didn't tune right before playing. The cellist rocked the most of all of them- she seemed really into what she was doing and like she really approved of what everyone else was doing. There was a violinist with an eyepatch who didn't seem like her mind was there. I am pretty sure she was just concentrating, but when performing in a small group it's generally seen as good to engage with your audience.
Delain made Jason (he and Olya accompanied me) understand Brutal Legend retroactively, with the likes of Otto Schimmelpenninck van der Oije (ahhh, Dutch names) and his ridiculous hair as well as the other guy Timo Somers. They put on a good show although it looked like the keyboardist (Martijn Westerholt) was seriously smashing his head into his equipment repeatedly.
Kamelot were awesome as always. Karevik has amazing charisma. I think they were surprised at the loud welcome they got and they promised they would be back soon since it was a sold out show. But yes! The new songs are good live. They were very gratified we were singing along with them too.
Last weekend was a bit more MonsterHearts and the Washington State Fair in Puyallup. So many mareeps! It was ginormous. Amazing plant samples and lots of standard fair activities (also rides, but I didn't partake). Funnel cake was tasty too. But the most fascinating part for me was learning about
Pierce County's Daffodil Princess tradition and looking at all of the submitted crafts and collections!
Also a bit further back saw Sarah G for her birthday at the Barrel Thief. They have some tasty artisan chocolates, but mostly I want to make sure they stay in business. They used to be called Wine Tea Chocolate, but I think people- self included- weren't sure what time of day to come in.
Alex arrives tomorrow night! Yay! On agenda for his visit: Fresh Flours, EMP, the ID, Cafe Turko, and our friends' game expo TGRGBACE.
