[55.00] Going hungry in 3... 2...

Jul 17, 2009 22:41

[Erol is a light sleeper. And it's been a few days since his beating, so he isn't resting quite as heavily as he was. So the bump and scuffle that turns his comm on is the same that wake him up.

His hand is on the knife beneath his pillow before he's even fully awake, though his guard eases when he sees it's no threat. Just an annoyance.]

Erol? Are you alright? Is there a baby in your room, too?

[That's right, he'd been holed up in his room - more or less - since Praxis beat him for an intel flub. She hadn't seen. He was still limping and the Baron had re-opened his stomach wounds - which was pretty impressive, considering how old they'd been - so he couldn't in all honesty answer that he was fine. He was still a little too sleepy to lie to Christine, so he just doesn't answer that question.]

There is. And a rat - Daxter's here.

[If ever there was a name spat with more contempt and loathing...]

[Don't think she didn't miss that, Erol. When it comes to the health of her boyfriend, Christine is the most attentive person there ever was. Still, for now she'll leave it be. Perhaps she can go and check on him when everything has settled down.]

Daxter? Oh dear, that's not good at all.

[She's now fully expecting the captain to announce Erol has been thrown in the brig for murder any time now. Even though she doesn't hate Daxter quite as much as the others who captured Erol (hey, he's small, fuzzy, and charming okay?), she knows that Erol himself absolutely hates him. And a little rodent-person like Daxter can't look after a baby... oh dear, she might have to do a little adopting.]

[Erol needs someone attentive. God knows HE doesn't always take care of himself.]

No, it isn't.

It'll be a miracle if any one of us survives this, frankly.

[He's partially joking. After all, neither Daxter nor the baby are equipped to kill Erol.]

Maybe it won't be so bad. After all, the babies are delightful if you take proper care of them.

Have you named yours yet?

Yes, Erol. You have to name the baby - who knows how long they'll be here! All babies need names. I could help if you want. Is it a boy or a girl?

... That's the point. We don't know how long they'll be here. Most anomalies onboard only last a handful of days.

I'm not naming something that won't last the week.

But what if they're here longer? You can't just keep calling a baby 'it' or something. They need love and care!

[Audio] This is the beauty of Christine. psychoticracer July 20 2009, 00:27:29 UTC
It's too young to know the difference. If they're here so long that they get old enough to respond to language, then perhaps it will be worth it.

But... don't you want to have a name to refer to the child by? Surely that will make things easier. Besides, it's quite fun to think up a fitting name!

[Sigh.]

Would you like to come up with a name for it, Christine?

It's a boy.

Oh, I'd love to! I think Francois would be a nice name.
