Okay....Robert you wanted me to write a story about myself....here you go....it didnt work the way you wanted...but its a story about me.....

The gleam in her eyes slowly dimmed to barely a faint glow. Her calming voice grew cold and raspy as she answered the question. Left alone in the calming afternoon. Her numb hand reaching out for the familiar friend as her eyes searched warily for a stranger to come alone. Nothing. Then there before her stood the object she'd been hoping for, a quick push and out it came. She grasped the tiny piece of metal in her fingers and felt it rub along her finger tips. Thoughts racing through her head 'put it back' she said 'it's not worth it' effortlessly trying to let go of it. 'keep it' she said 'just once and it'll be fine' pulling it back to her and examining the tip. 'no one will know, it won't be bad, you'll get hurt but no one else will, its worth it, don't worry, just breathe' so taking one last breath she pulled up the hem of her skirt, and pressed the edge against her thigh.
Slowly, she gained the courage to drag. Barely anything was felt. Again she dragged, pushing down harder. A pink line was left. 'i want red' she said to herself, pushing and dragging. Getting carried away and out of control. A mess of lines created and left, red staining the skirt and the old friend. She glared and threw it against the wall, covering the new wound, hiding it from the strangers eyes.
Nothing. Is all she felt.
Seconds turned to minutes and the wound began to throb in pain. 'it wasn't worth it' she said with tears in her eyes, remorse building inside of her. Glancing at the wound agony reached inside her, from her heart, as the broken promise was realized, and the lie was again told. Silently she recited her favorite poem inside her head. "Never make a promise you can't keep, like the one you made saying you'd never hurt me"
The words had new meaning and described her new life. Alone she'd go through the challenges to break away from her lifestyle, alone she'd fight the battles she'd soon lose.
Alone she'd go through her life, a stranger unto all.
