Here's the story / of a nerdy lady!

...who was teaching three un-nerdy groups of kids...

That's okay. They like me, even though they don't understand.

1. Cultural nerdiness:
In the past two weeks, I have been to one lecture and two readings/book signings. Two of those events were Dates. I also went on a reading date. YES, that is exactly what it sounds like: where Cameron and I go on a date to read. Not to each other, or anything. Just... read. It's LOVELY.

I cannot at this time divulge who the two authors who did signings were, because I got xmas presents at BOTH of them for Readers Of This Blog. But Anna Quindlen didn't sign anything. I also ran into Jenn/triathgirl at one of them, and we made fun of all the other people who were there and then suddenly realized that that meant WE were losers, too.

[hangs head]

Only not really. And we totally wanted to kidnap the author and take her home with us and make her our next-door neighbor/great aunt. She's friends with ALL KINDS OF COOL PEOPLE and also hilarious and tiny and round and cute!!!!11OMGFFANGIRL1!!

2. Geek nerdiness:
I very seriously considered (for about .2 seconds, but still, seriously) buying a PS2 strictly so that I could play Cameron's new video game, Final Fantasy XII, because it is GORGEOUS and the plot is SO INTERESTING and there is a LOQUATIOUS, FASTIDIOUS GAY SKY PILOT WITH A BADASS "VIERA" DRAG QUEEN SIDEKICK (named, wait for it, "Balthier" and "Fran," respectively) that I think I could almost stand the parts where I had to play the stupid video game.

They are THE BEST. EVER. And Balthier's vocabulary is fantastic. And, in the Star Wars metaphor I'm building, Balthier is Gay Han Solo and Fran is like Chewbacca, only without, you know, the fur. And the grunting. But with BUNNY EARS OMG. (Also I find him unlikely to fall for the Princess-kidnapped-by-the-empire, despite her butch position as Rebel Leader and hilariously small pink miniskirt. But I digress.)

Anyway, the point is, I enjoy watching Cameron play this video game. A lot. (I, uh, do other stuff in between cut scenes. Like grade papers. Or fall asleep.) So much so that I started telling Clare about it.

Peggy: IT IS SO GOOD OMG.
Clare: It sounds good! Look for fanfic!
Peggy: The game has only been out for three days and nobody's had time to finish it yet so there can't be any fanfic. YET.
Clare: I think you know what that means!
Peggy: I DO NOT HAVE TIME TO WRITE FFXII FANFIC. I AM BUSY WATCHING CAMERON PLAY IT KTHXBYE.
Clare: Okay, well... keep me update on the plot, m'kay?
Peggy: WILL DO.

And I know the fanfic will come soon. So there.

AAAAH IT IS ALREADY LUNCHTIME GTG LJ TTYL.
