weekend update... sadly, no tina fey, tho.

This weekend was rather excellent, if exhausting.

Saturday. I was supposed to Get Lots of Work Done in the morning, and Andrew was supposed to come over so we could study together, except I slept until half past noon and my phone battery had died in the night, so by the time I figured that out and plugged it in and called him, it was about three. Ooops.

In the meantime, I baked cookies, and... well, not too terribly much else, although I did have a breakthrough on one of my portfolio expectations. And the cookies are delicious.

Then Cameron and I had Lots of Marvelous Adventures, to wit:
*Seeing Bolth at the Carmel Performing Arts Center. They rocked out extremely hard, much to the delight of the 14-year-old audience (Cameron and I skewed the age ranges like wo). I would also like to document that this is the first time I have ever been knocked down in a mosh pit--because two ten-year-olds slammed into me WAY below my center of balance, and also? Mom-purse. Kerpow, Peggy on floor! On very hard wooden floor. Knees still bruised. HOWEVER, I was a trooper and hung in there for
*Chinese food (no, wait, that wasn't the taxing thing, that was)
*LAZER TAG OMG. It was actually way fun--we went with two other couples, Brent & Melissa and their friends John & Elizabeth, and also Elizabeth's brother Bill, who teaches journalism at Earlham (but doesn't know Courtney; I asked). Once again, little kids kilt me. But I also pwn3d some of them, so it was OK.
*Looking at the Toys'R'Us catalog with Melissa. Ahahaha. While Brent and Cameron talked video games. I'm pretty sure everyone else was doing something respectable like pool, but I don't care. You know why? ROBORAPTOR, that's why!! HA!!! (Actually, Melissa and I did simultaneously decide that it would be awesome to get the Mini Slushie Machine and add booze, thereby making our own private frozen drink factory. DO NOT TAKE THAT IDEA IT IS TOTALLY PATENTED.)

Then Cameron drove me home and we stayed up talking until Very Very Late, until the storm that was a tornado down in Evansville showed up here as a mega-thunderstorm, and it was one of the... something... I was going to say "Best Talks Ever," although I don't think "best" is strictly what I mean. Suffice it to say that, even more so than usual, I just wanted to hug Cameron and never let go. NEVER. Except I did, so that we could go downstairs and get cookies. Because cookies are delicious.

Sunday was also fun--I drove back to Cincinnati to see Mom & Dad's new wood floors and have brunch (lunch?) and see a play with Grandma and all the other in-town Henkel women, plus Fran Hornegal. Although the play was a bit repetative, I had fun sitting by Mom to watch it, and also enjoyed tromping around the campus of Mt. St. Joe in a group roughly half the size of the actual student enrollment.

And then I finally gave Dad his birthday present (much, much belated, due to my own stupidity), after a super-delicious dinner and just before he gave me gas money. I was clearly the winner in this scenario.

I have just realized that this entry is likely completely uninteresting to everyone but me, so I will stop now. I will just leave you with this final thought for the day:

Marilyn Manson > Cheerleaders. Cheerleader: Pwn3d.

Alright, so it's not so much a "thought" as "a caption I made up for the #1 google image search result for "tainted love," but still. I feel that it has merit of some sort.
