I didn't know Susan personally, but her raw, honest and even humorous account of her life battling cancer made me feel like she was sitting in my living room telling me her story. Susan passed away yesterday after 5 years battling Inflammatory Breast Cancer. My heart goes out to her husband and 2 young sons. If nothing else, she brought awareness about IBC and breast cancer in general to many many people. Susan's plea in 2007 was this - "Inflammatory breast cancer is detected by women and their doctors who notice a change in one of their breasts. If you notice a change, call your doctor today. Tell her about it. Tell her that you have a friend with this disease, and it’s trying to kill her. Now you know what I wish I had known before six weeks ago. You don’t have to have a lump to have breast cancer." Today, that has even more meaning. Check your breasts regularly my friends, Please.
