Still feeling the effects of the Market Street Grill this morning. At least there's one place in this burg that knows how a steak is cooked.
Last night was a great thing. Good food, a fun time with Rifftrax at the movies, featuring Jonathan Coulton (of "Still Alive"/Portal fame) and Something Awful's Lowtax. But more importantly, it was time with my friends.
Over the past two years, I've done my best to keep a balance between my time with Mandy and my time with the guys, but since I have my own home now, and will be married in a week, the time for that is over. The guys have to take a back seat in my new life. It's the way it's got to be. And they understand (but they're willing to help me sneak out and live it up a bit, too.)
In Saxon tradition, when a man chose a woman, he'd take a cadre of fellow warriors (his "best men") to watch his back while he went and got her from her family's home. Sometimes the party was welcomed with open arms and celebration, and sometimes, well, they had to use their swords. Either way, you had to know that when the important decision of marriage came up that the guys you grew up with wouldn't let you down.
It's a good feeling to know that, even when swords aren't included. Thanks, guys.
