Cognitive Dissonance/Frustration and Aggressiveness/Hostility

Apr 23, 2006 16:20

I'm conducting independent research on the relationship (correlation) between cognitive dissonance, frustration, anger, aggressiveness/hostility, and aggression. I have found a scant amount of research on the correlation between cognitive dissonance and frustration, but none that shows any type of correlation between cognitive dissonance and anger, aggressiveness/hostility, or aggression. My hypothesis is that there is a significant direct correlation between cognitive dissonance/frustration and aggressiveness/hostility, and I've found a way to test that (as well as the relationship between cognitive dissonance and frustration), but I'm wondering what the significance/relevance would be to (psychological) science in general. Basically, is it worth conducting an experiment to try to figure it out? Also, what are the implications it would have if my hypothesis is confirmed, or if it is disconfirmed?

Thanks.
