so i picked up a full surround set consisting of KLH platinum series speakers and woofer and a sony str de 695 reciever. a pair of bose 201 series IV speakers were thrown in for good measure. as a little overview, my main setup in the living room consists of Sony SS TL-4 floor standing fronts, and the sony 3 way surround set from the mid 90's. there's also a KLH 10" forward firing woofer. all of this is powered by a str de 935 reciever. in my bedroom is a full set of yamaha surround speakers, all bookshelf size and a KEF reference center which i hardly use. there was a sony 8" forward firing woofer but now it's sold. all of that is powered by a sony str de 435 reciever. i tested all of the speakers now and the bose suck as i would have expected. the klh is alright as a surround set, but they can't compete against the sony floor stander, and i just love the yamahas now. i've gotten used to their tone by now and they're much easier to deal with than the smaller KLH satellites and don't sound like ass like the bose. this has become sort of an obsession now.. some day i'll get a setup that i really like..
