All right, it's just an excuse to look at my pared down color scheme, but here goes.
Start before Disharmony:
Angel overhears Cordy talking to Wes or Gunn about how she ended up (pathetically) dumping her lifes story on some complete stranger but kind of felt good, like it helped.
Angel, haunted by Wes' accusation that Angel doesn't really know Cordy any more and frustrated by his lack of progress in getting back "in" with Cordy, later admits that he heard her earlier conversation and offers to set her up with a pen-pal. Cordy of course thinks he's insane but he goes on to explain that he keeps correspondence with a few people that he's met over the years and sometimes it's nice to talk to someone you never see face to face and that he'd be willing to lend her one of his. After mulling it over, Cordy grudgingly asks him to set it up.
Angel, of course sets it up where the letters are forwarded to him, in a last ditch effort to get in her head and see what it is he needs to do to win her back.
The letters start coming. Angel gets a real eye-opening look inside Cordelia's head. After an awkward letter or two, she starts to open up about her hurt and betrayal over what he did, how she feels about all her friends, how hard the visions really are, anything- everything. Angel in turn gets to anonymously give his perspective on why he acted the way he did, how he feels and how hard he struggles- to justify his actions through this made up persons commentary.
I see an entire series of letters stretching from Disharmony, through Birthday at the least. A thing that I think would be really neat is Cordy sending a letter confessing that she is going to die and it getting to Angel a couple of days after her demonization.
I also see bits of story where Angel uses his secret insight into Cordy's thoughts and feelings to manipulate his "comeback" and check her responses (to things like him buying the clothes). Also where Cordy gains deeper understanding of Angel through her "pen-pal's" insight.
I of course would like to see a slow "time lapse" C/A romance develop, but would be happy with a good friendship piece.
