an update, seriously
It's been awhile, LiveJournal! So long that apparently I forgot my password. Or that you randomly changed it on me. But I hold no grudges.
Things have been...OK. Money's still REALLY tight. And it does not help that M&T Bank SUCKS MAJOR ASS. Here's what happened. Last Saturday, I deposited a check of $120.56 through the ATM. On Tuesday, at work, I logged onto my web banking and saw that the check was posted to my account. THE FULL AMOUNT of the check was added to my balance. So, correspondingly, I went to the ATM and took out $400 to pay my rent. I knew I was cutting it close, but I wasn't going to overdraw.
The next day, I checked my online banking again to see what my balance was. I gapsed in horror as I realized that they had charged me $64 in overdraft fees. This made NO SENSE to me. So, I called the customer service hotline and was informed that only $100 of my check cleared because it was an out of state check. I told them that I didn't understand then why they added the FULL AMOUNT of the check to my online banking. They said that when I signed up for my account, I was told that it takes 3-5 business days for checks to clear. I asked them to take the fees off and they said no.
I think this is completely ridiculous! If I knew that only $100 of that check had cleared, I wouldn't have withdrawn the money! And, how am I supposed to know that only $100 cleared WHEN YOU ADDED THE WHOLE AMOUNT OF THE CHECK TO MY ONLINE BANKING! (Can you tell I'm pissed?) It just sucks because I didn't spend money I didn't have. I HAD THE MONEY TO COVER WHAT I HAD SPENT. I don't make a lot and $64 is A LOT of money to me right now. I hope they are fucking happy. I WILL be using my Bank of America account from now on. FUCK YOU M&T!
Target is...Target. They put so much pressure on the cashiers to get people to sign up for the stupid credit card. It's really the only measure they have of whether you're doing a good job or not. Last night I was kind of upset because they put me on the express lane and NOBODY comes to the express lane. Seriously, you have to stand out there and beg customers (I mean, GUESTS) to come to your lane. I was thinking, just as there's a specific "type" of person who works for Bath & Body Works, there's a specific type that works at stores like Target. And while the BBW type is generally a person I really like, the Target type is a person that either annoys or depresses me. I was thinking about how I looked forward to working at BBW and chatting with Jess or Karyn or Amy...and how Target is nothing, nothing like that. I really wish I had just tried to get hired at another BBW store out here. I'll give Target a few more weeks, but if you asked me right now, it's not for me. And I only have one red shirt and now that you all know my money situation, I barely have enough to buy groceries, let alone another stupid ugly red t-shirt!
But Friday is Target pay day, and the 15th is WSF pay day, so I've just gotta make it to then. Looking on the bright side, I'm SO gonna appreciate a real job when it comes.
