So, I finally got the gift Aunt Terri sent in the mail. Jason's mom/step-dad had Jason come pick it up on Monday. Did I get the package it originally came in? No! They sent it in a freakin Kroger bag. If I didn't know any better I'd think it was because they didn't want any 'evidence' that they opened a package with MY name on it....which was slightly confirmed later upon talking to Aunt Terri, but I'll get into that a little bit later. Enclosed were two outfit sets. One in 0/3mnths. It had a long sleeve onesie in medium green with monkies on the chest and a matching pair of camo pants. The second set was 3/6mnths. It has two onesies, one shot sleeve and gray that says "Banana's over mommy" and the other was dark blue long sleeved with monkies on the chest. The two onesies came with a pair of stripped pants with a monkey on the bum. Adorable? I think so!
Fast forward to later on in the evening. I had a chance to talk to Aunt Terri about the situation regarding the package. She is very upset. Why? Because she KNOWS the package had to have my name on the outside because not only did she address it with my name on it BUT she paid to have it gift wrapped. She said in all her years of ordering from JCPenney she has never had a problem with this and while she understands it isn't my fault she is slightly peeved that it happened. She tried to change the address on the third present (currently on backorder til Sept 22nd) but she wasn't able to. She's hoping that they keep their grimey little hands off of that one and let me open it.
Of course, upon telling Jason all this information he kinda snapped at me that I should drop it and that they didn't mean to do it. Can we say insensitive much? I mean, how would he feel if someone opened HIS mail? Oh wait, his mom opens his mail all the time. Well guess what? I'm not him and this isn't any 'every day' situation. Even if it didn't come with my name on it. Even if it didn't come gift wrapped, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to realize that not only did you not order something from JCPenney, but there is a baby shower being held at your house the following weekend and a lot of the people the mother-to-be knows are living out of town. Duh! So I have boiled the situation down to two things:
A.) Jason's mom and step-dad are pathetically rude and hurtful people who don't know how to keep their hands off of other people's stuff OR
B.) I've procreated into a family of idiots.
If you can think of any other likely scenario, please feel free to let me know...but this is all my mind can come up with at the current moment. Needless to say though, I have been rather stand-offish towards Jason and I haven't spoken to his mom or step dad since the weekend, though sadly I have to at the baby shower...hopefully my temper disappears by then.
In other news, my ultrasound is tomorrow. I'm going alone. *sigh* Jason has to work, Cheryl is off doing something with her husband, and Malachi has karate. That's okay though, cause I'll get to see the little booger before everyone else will...and I'll be able to handle any bad news better if I'm alone. I'm completely terrified that I've either gained a lot of weight or that the baby is going to measure huge as he has in every other ultrasound. Anyway, full update on the matter should come tomorrow.
