Happy New Year!!

So back at work.  Glad to be home, kinda chilled for the NYE and yesterday.  On xmas eve, Beckett got diagnosed w/ Flu-B.

He had a fever popping and going on Tuesday, but it was maintained w/ ibuprofen.  On xmas eve, we gave him more medicine and the fever fell, but it went back up in 90 minutes or so.  Found a local pediatric urgent care where he was diagnosed, got a prescription for tamaflu.  Only one pharmacy open close by, which was Publix.  Not CVS or Walgreens *eyeroll*

That tamaflu is expensive.  Pharmacist said if you didn't have insurance, it'd be $385 for 5 days worth.  Thankfully we had insurance, but it was still $120.  So twice a day since, Beckett muscled thru taking it twice a day.  He though he'd have been finished this past Sunday, but alas there was still more (either we got too much meds or our calculations were off).  Yesterday was the last day, only in the morning, and practically danced a jig.  The stuff tastes awful, and apparently it lingers for hours on end.

It's weird, he would sip it because it was awful.  I asked him was he prolonging the experience.  Just slam it back (insert Shots by LMFAO chorus here) and do a chaser, whether it be lemonade, hot chocolate, wtvr).  Finally he grasped what I was telling him.

So, no, he didn't get a flu shot this year.  He turned 11, so he had his 3 immunizations boosters (2 different shots) when he visited the doc and I didn't want his body to add that to the temporary effects.  Next year when he has his wellness check, I'll get him the flu shot.  I don't want him to go thru this experience again.
