So I bought
Circa Survive - Juturna
Against Me! - Searching For a Former Clarity
Against Me! - Is Reinventing Axl Rose
Strike Anywhere - To Live In Discontent
So I had one song by Circa Survive (Act Appalled, of course.), and they sounded right up my alley. And I loved Anthony Green's work in Saosin and Zolof The Rock and Roll Destroyer. And his attitude. But I definitely do NOT like this album. I should probably try...listening to the whole thing or something..but, what I heard so far wasnt so great, or at least just not my thing. Kinda like me adoring G.G. Allin when most people just think he was pathetic.
Against Me!'s latest is pretty good. I didnt like it the first time through, but I couldnt just give up on it.(yes i'll do the same for CS) It's definitely starting to grow on me, the title track being the flagship. Followed by the first single, "Dont Lose Touch" and then "From Her Lips To God's Ears" or whatever it's called. Uh, the Condolleezza song.
Against Me! Is Reinventing Axl Rose was everything I thought it would be, it's always been the "Great Against Me!" record Ive never had, and Ive had "As The Eternal Cowboy" for a while now, which is still a better album, but I now also adore this one. This was probably, when I gave these latest albums Ive bought their first once-through, this was the one I liked the most.
Strike Anywhere's CD has its highlights but its a pretty average album. I dont even remember the names of the songs I liked or what song they were but there were some songs in there with some good hooks. And Strike Anywhere is better than most bands with their hooks, they have the good hooks but they also have the good spirit and good energy. The hooks are good PISSED OFF hooks. I like it.
Time to go play Morrowind.
