So, that hadn't really worked out quite the way Callisto had planned it. Though there had been a moment or two there when she really had thought it would.
It wasn't even that it looked like it was going to get her killed. She'd been prepared for that as an option going in. Was even willing to admit that when the blonde had had that sword at her throat that she'd hoped she'd find the spine to just push it in and end things once and for all. No, it was the how of it that was getting to her, this sinking and begging while Xena just lay there, willing to watch her die, but not to get her precious hands dirty doing it. The worst part of it was that the words spilling almost involuntarily from her mouth were sincere.
Then the sand closed over her head, and Callisto knew no more.
