It was an overall very nice affair.
We woke up at 3:30am Thursday morning to catch our flight at the airport. Mom and Michael had a flight at 5:30, and Becky, Dad and I waited another couple hours or so in the food court for our own flight. We each got individual TV screens on which we could watch movies/shows/the news and such, and I watched a great ep of The Office (rabies kills four Americans a year!). It wasn't a direct flight, so Mom and Michael waited for us at the gate in Toronto, from which we all got on a plane together to Atlanta (no screens, but we were at the back of the plane and each got a row to ourselves). Rented a car, hooked up Karen the GPS, and headed to my uncle Andy's house, where he, his wife and three sons were having us stay for the weekend. The boys are as violent and crazy and lovable as ever, though frustrating and hard to control. We chilled, went to the house of the Bat Mitzvah girl for pizza with the rest of the immediate family, went back to Andy's and did more chilling afores bed.
Friday we slept in a bit - thankfully weren't woken up by the boys, who had school. We went to the local aquarium, and dude was it awesome. It's very new and extremely awesome, with tanks of all shapes and sizes over your head and behind glass walls and awesome. My favourite parts were the balooga whale totally showing off all the strong, beautiful muscles of its flexible body, being able to touch manta rays and little sharks (my gods, mantas are sooooo cool - the way they glide, <3!), and my new favourite fish, the
radial firefish. I gotted a stuffie manta ray and HIS NAME IS WATASHOE. Because they almost fly, like beating their wings ("wata" being the supposed sound flapping wings make) and "shoe" because a) it was my potential name for pee_dee's Dragonite, b) I like to take off my shoes in Club Spaces? c) NO SHOES IN THE HOUSE d) you know what they say about a guy with big feet...BIG SHOES. ilu, Watashoe. ;;
Went back to Andy's, showered, had oneg Shabbat at the synagogue, Jamie leading the services, then dinner. I staying up quite some time that night fiddling with my cousin's toy Pokéball while I swept through the last book of my trilogy.
Saturday we went back to synagogue for the morning service. It was rainy, but it cleared up by noon. It's a nice shul, and odd in it's eqalitarianism. Very strange seeing all the women wearing talits, though Jamie's (Bat Mitzvah girl) was really pretty. Went up to do the prayer for Israel, and HOMG WHY DIDN'T YOU TELL ME I WAS LEADING THE PRAYER AND HEBREW ARGH NO. Failed at that language I haven't spoken in two years thar. Lunch was nice, but nothing special.
Chilled at Andy's, went on the computer, now like Kanye West's Harder. Skyped with Sam for a bit, had to brb, returned and got no response from neither Sam nor Tom (you and your coffee room), and Jana's comp didn't let me use webcam, so NOBODY GOT TO SEE MY UNCLE'S SUPERAWESOME SWORD, YOU SUCK.
Got to wear my pretty dress for the night party, which was also very nice. Decent cocktails, 6"4 22-year-old Daniel got carded, adults were outside while kids were already inside warming up for dancing, which was a good idea we don't have here (XD musical chairs with boys as chairs - so cute). Gail did an excellent job; the DJs were great, the hired dancers were awesome, the prizes were queen-y but fun (white gloves, so hot), the food and desert was nice, the table centerpieces were great, the greenscreen with the picture-taking was a cool little activity, uncle Peter did great with the slideshow, and we got free socks to keep high heels off the dancefloor. Apparently I look good enough while sitting watching the dancers to have my photo taken by a photographer who did a great, fast job with family pictures. I danced like hell all night, because damn dancing is fun, even if you look like an idiot and even if it's really corny dancing with relatives (I think my grandfather had a bit much to drink XD). I think the dancers were very amused by me, and they were fairly epic in their way, and I tried to request Harder and a Rickroll, but got neither. :[ We were having such a good time that we even got them to give us a few more songs after it was supposed to end at 11:30 (I practically screamed "Never gonna give you up!" as a request, and everyone was all "Rick Astley? oO") but he played Buttercup instead which is a great song anyway and all the women were on the stage and it was so fun. Very, very nice party overall. ^^
We went for brunch at Peter and Gail's on Sunday, which was easily the best meal of the weekend. There was this supercool french toast made differently and orgasmically, and I had my first ever omlette, which was made on the spot. Sat and chatted with the family, munching on chocolate-covered pretzel sticks Jamie's friend made, then listened to Dad and Andy (who's fairly religious) talk about religion and intermarriage and now I'm a bit scared.
Anyway, Dad, Becky and I headed to the airport while every other non-local waited around for their flights back home. Flight to Toronto wasn't anything special, but I spent a huge portion of the flight admiring the clouds, because the effects were just gorgeous to look at and describe. Failed at getting an earlier flight home, ate (omg lol Coyote Jacks :/), boarded, and since it was the same type of plane as the first one (except OMG FIRST CLASS IS FREAKING INSANE AND WONDERFUL GAH JEALOUSY) so I watched a terrific ep of 30 Rock (the manitee has become the Mentos). Got home around 10, with Mom and Mike arriving much later, around 1.
Monday back at school was superspecialawesome. I'd say it was almost as good as the first Monday, and definitely better than Tuesday/Wednesday. The rest of it's been fun, nothing special.
On Monday I came to school for 8:15, grabbed a spot in the course change line (right near the front, too X3), checked what was available when I had the chance, and successfully switched out of my annoying medical articles English class into one I knew nothing about. Consequently, my Tuesdays are shorter, I no longer have a three-hour break on Wednesdays, and on Fridays I have four back-to-back classes from 8-4, no breaks whatsoever. But meh.
Found out that the Sci-Fi tubing was only six people, and British!Carl, who the event was for, didn't even go, apparently for fear of British jokes. Radio has taken up half of Sci-Fi, so all day people would come in and out for like, two minutes, before they probably realized how crazy we all are. The new open floorplan is nice, but it'll be annoying to have to share with them. Screamed frantically as I finished my Medical Ethics homework in Comics, then we had an interesting talk about abortion in class. More hanging in clubs, and Mel and I met Matt, whose drawing skills are so awesome Mel turned fangirl. As always. XD We watched Colossus in Cinema class, which started some interesting discussion even though the movie was kind of painful. Also Max looks better-kept now because his family went to Egypt and they made him (awww, Egypt!). Met with Matt, Tim, Michelle and Kevin in the theatre area during our break, of course. XD
Then I spent three hours just hanging out in Sci-Fi. So awesome. Sam and Mark, OLD FARTS, were molesting me, and shouting "I need an adult!" only encouraged them. ;; Jana came in, and I got to see her collar birthday present (it's very cool, but the spikes make hugging her dangerous XD), and of course Cameron has his goggles. When Mark and Scourge were being anti-social and sci-fi-y playing Magic, Mark made a rule that if we get too loud, I would be molested (...we had Jana, so it was bound to happen D:). I wasn't wearing my boots, and there was foot stuff and people learned my name from looking at my socks (call me Thor), and DAMNIT STOP MOCKING ME I'D FORGET MY NAME IF I COULDN'T CHECK IT, AND I DIDN'T FEEL LIKE IRONING THE LABEL ONTO MY FOREHEAD. There were many footrests and some lol tickling. Matthew made us watch goatsee, meatspin and stuff, and it was my first time so GAH MY EYES HOW THEY BURNED MAKE THE PENIS STOP SPINNING NO PLEASE NO TWO MEN ONE HORSE OH GOD. Then I was trying to save Bianca from Francis, who was holding her down to watch, and I just ended up throwing her onto the ground and pulling a muscle, AWESOME. We had an al anon session and used the whiteboard to make a /b/ thread ("LAMP LAMP LAMP LAMP LAMP" Angel is awesome), then I was in a huggy mood and everyone did a bad job saying hi to my dad on the phone, but at least he gave me a lift home. ^^ I fucking love Clubs.
Sam did the unthinkable and bought Twlilight (the fact that it was tempting you IS NOT AN EXCUSE SAMANTHA GOD), even though she could have borrowed anyone's, and after she reads it, it's been decided that we'll do a public burning of it. Also, pee_dee's gotta try to get some TOASTER. YUSH. :D Om nom face WHAT PHYSICS, vomit on your strawburries. And we came up with Eric's humilation! Half my idea, half Sam's, totally epic and stuff. X3 No ninja stuff, though.
Tuesday, once again, not as good as the Mondays. Woke up the the strong urge to listen to I Can't Deny It by Rod Stewart, and damn I love that song and others. The word of the day in Creative Writing was "tongue." Totally forgot that Integrating Activity was cancelled, which kicked some fine ass. Hung out in clubs, mostly Comics, watching old 90s stuff on YouTube (like we've never done that before XD). Cameron got one of those Pedo Bags (you know, those Beni Bear bags whose mascot looks like Pedo Bear? <3
saw one on the bus in December) at some place across the street for super-cheap, and it was awesome. Then omg HE GAVE IT TO ME and everyone was all "awww no does want ;;" and Pedo Bear was in my shirt (APPROVAL, but too old) and Sam realized only then that wow, I have five nipples, one of which likes to sometimes dissapear. Can't believe she never knew!
Upon arriving home and finally going through my 30 or so e-mails (so much SPPf shit from over the weekend ><) I found out that homg, the school theatre collective had a metting that night! So I ate a quick dinner, drove and subway'd over for 7. Katz had been having a meeting about some online student magazine (hm, does perhaps want?), and found out that Annalie's the only person I know from high school who's still in it (guess Rach and Chisling decided to forget about it), and HEY IT'S THAT GIRL WHO COSPLAYING LINK OMG AWESOME and she was calling me awesome and I was all ";; no u, where were you for pictures Halloween, damnit." We're doing a play about people turning into rhinoceri (rhonoceroses?) and YES LET'S MAKE IT A MUSICAL PLEASE XD.
I bought some soups to keep in my locker for lazy lunches first thing Wednesday. Chilled in the Chill Club for the first time in awhile, and XD Francis and Stephano gayness, so sexy. Had my first class in my new English course, the Rhetoric, and we did grammar and then the map of South America, because apparently he really likes us to know random facts (according to Kayla, the loud, fun smoker from English with Cockburn last term, the first class he gave a random knowledge quiz, one question asking who the grandsons of Donald Duck are XD). He seems like a pretty decent teacher, though, like all of my male college English teachers, seems a little crazy. Seriously! Of my four English classes, the single female teacher I had was easily the most sane (in a good way), of the bunch. All well - he seems fairly fun, and I could have gotten stuck with much worse. Hung out in Clubs, watched Nostalgia Critic (AND I RAN OVER HER WITH A RACECAR) and tried to chair dance with Swieca.
In Theatre class we all took scenes, and though I was really tempted to take the 101 Dalmations, Chilled or Appartment monologues (they all look SO FUN <3), I decided to go with a scene with Francois where we're selling an appartment we've been using as a fuckplace for our affairs for years. Stayed after class to talk with the teacher again (me, Mel, Adam and Tristan once again - this may become a weekly thing XD), and omg Adam's Joker and ACE VENTURA OMG cosplays are awesome.
Awesomesauce; there were subway problems, forcing the train to stay put in one station for 5-10 minutes. Then some sort of protest with a petition was at my station as I was leaving - didn't really read the signs since I was trying to escape, but considering the ethnicity of the people there, it ddin't seem like anything I as a Jewish person on Israel's side might approve of.
Blarg, must talk to parents about Animé North, rawr. ><
