It took her a while to figure out why Silver had dragged her out of bed. Eyelids stuck together and heavy with sleep, she blinked in the dark. Her legs were shaky underneath her, but he just kept pulling her along. Out of her room, down the hall, out the door, all while in her pajamas.
She yawned, groaning slightly as the cold night air clung to her face. A puff of white air escaped her lips as she breathed; the mist obscured Silver’s excited yellow eyes for a moment before clearing.
He pointed to a place far away from the makeshift duplex that she and Silver claimed as home. She recognized it as the town center; all the lights were on, and she turned a curious look toward him. He pointed again, more insistently, and she turned her face.
After a couple of seconds, an immense cheer rose from the people gathered outside. Laughter rang out into the night, an uncommon sound for the rebuilding city. She smiled a little bit to hear it, and as the realization dawned on her, she slowly let out a soft chuckle of her own. Silver wrapped his arms around her.
“Happy New Year, Blazey.”
The Rocky Horror Picture Show, it turns out, is the perfect movie to watch right before the countdown. ^^ Was fun, I got up with Steven to do the Time Warp. ;D
Now the excitement's dying down, but I can still hear fireworks outside...
