Long Time, No See

It's been a while since I've updated my LJ account, and I even forgot I had an account here until someone commented on a blog I'd posted two years ago. It was a lovely comment from an anonymous soul who said my blog had helped them. So, I figured if I can touch even one person by sharing my innermost thoughts and feelings, then it's well worth it.

Plus, those of you who friended me eons ago might be curious as to what I've been up to since you last heard from me. First of all, if you're an old friend, you'll notice that I've changed my name from "harrystrulove" to "psychicartist". I've grown and matured considerably since I opened this account back in '06, and my old username no longer suits me. First of all, I'm not obsessed with a fictional character anymore, lol! Second, well, like I said I've changed.

This paragraph is for those of you who remember me: Last time I posted a blog here, I was a married woman living and going to college in Ohio. Since then I graduated Cum Laude with a graphic design certification back in December 2009, and was divorced in January 2010. I moved to Florida last summer, and am now actively looking for a graphic design job and working as a caregiver for an elderly woman. I currently have no boyfriend, and would like to keep it that way at least for now. I've gotten back into painting, and create new pieces of artwork on an almost weekly basis. Also, I have a cat now; an adorable female tabby named Twilight. She adopted me in October 2009 when I was living in Ohio. She was one of the strays that lived outside my apartment, and she charmed me into keeping her lol.

In December 2010 I decided it was time for me to stop procrastinating and start pursuing my dreams. Well, it's always been a dream of mine to learn how to play the guitar, write songs and play my own original material. So I poked around online for guitar teachers in my area. A lot of people can teach you guitar, but I only found ONE that said he teaches guitar AND songwriting. So, I contacted him and have been taking lessons from him ever since. His name is Shep, and he's very cool. You'll probably get tired of hearing me talk about him and my guitar lessons, but I absolutely love it. I picked a great instructor, and since I'm pursuing my dream I'm very happy. Shep has really taught me a lot in a little bit of time, and he's very patient, supportive and encouraging. Plus he says he's impressed with the original songs I've been writing.

So...how about you? If you're an old friend I haven't heard from in ages, I want you to comment and tell me what you've been up to over the past few years! And if you're a new friend, then I welcome you and ask you to share a little bit about yourself:)
