Idina Menzel
Idina Menzel is someone I didn't think a lot about. I kind of ignored her in RENT because Daphne overshadowed her to some extent. Then I heard her in "The Wild Party" and finally, in Wicked.
If she stays on the path she's on, I think she's set to be the next Broadway goddess and finally, a screen actress. Hmmm.... you know, I would pick her over Christina Aguilera to play Amneris in AIDA 2010.
I say this, hoping Teresa isn't too mad at me, since, for those who don't know, Idina is currently Taye Digg's wife, and Teresa kinda likes Taye. There is a wonderful Spanish class joke for insiders surrounding this.
Anyway though, her looks and husband aside, I want to see her as Amneris. Mostly that, because while I understand that white people will be playing the role of Egyptians, blond hair and blue eyes is a little much. I would like to see a dark haired, dark eyed Amneris, and I could see Idina in that role. I think Taye should be in it too, as Radames' kidnapped helper, Mereb. Because then he'd have some singing roles.
I don't know. Maybe? Yes? No? Totally inappropriate?
