Cloverfield *Not really spoilers, but talks about the film*

What to say of the Cloverfield?

It was good, it wasn't great.  It was dramatic and fast paced, I wasn't left with a breathless feeling.  It didn't have any parts that made me say "no one would do that!" but the comedy sometimes got into the drama and I was laughing as people were dying.

Good Parts:
- Nice monster, very good terrible monster.
- Nice parasites falling off the monster
- Handheld camera technique felt real
- Not a lot of gore, swearing
- One heartwrenching scene that made me almost cry.
- Besides the plot, it felt realistic, no real "that's so damn stupid of them" moments.

Bad Parts:
- I was more scared of the parasites than the monster, they were more threatening
- While I understand that it was shot from the perspective of the people, the monster really didn't seem scary.  It was imposing, greatly designed, but it didn't really impact the characters enough and it wasn't focused on long enough up close.  It was one of those monsters that was "It's coming this way!" no so much "Oh God, it ate him!" until the end and even then... ehh...
- Motion sickness.  Made it through Blair Witch okay, this made me a little queasy at the end.
- Did feel any connection to any character other than Rob.
- No connection to any of the viral stuff, no slusho, no Japanese drilling company, etcetera, etcetera.  Lots of red herrings.
- No explanation of anything.  Understandable, really, but frustrating.  During lulls, I was really begging for more info.
- No explanation as to why the bite made the people explode?  LIttle bug inside them?  Infection?  Bug spit was nitro?  Dunno.

DON'T STAY AFTER THE CREDITS!!!!!!!!!!!!!  THERE IS AN AUDIO CLIP, BUT IT'S BASICALLY RADIO STATIC, NO WORDS.  ANOTHER ONE OF ABRAHM'S TRICKS.

There is rumor of a sequel, the same attack from a different camera.  Eh, no.  I would prefer a more normal sequel, like one that really made me scared of the monster.

This is all.
