Corrinne May ; Beautiful Seed.

Aug 04, 2007 12:07

Okay, recharged and rejuvenated and ayyye, face cramp. I think I must have been smiling from ear to ear all night. :)

Warning, a long entry ahead  :)

Back with her third album, Beautiful Seed, she is also back with her third concert in Singapore, the second time performing at NUS UCC Hall. Her concert was also named Beautiful Seed, I guess it is her promotional concert for her latest album. The concert hall was already filled with people from all walks of life and ages when I arrived. It was time to go into the hall, take my seat and soak in the atmosphere of the hall. I saw quite a handful of familiar faces from the online world, the media side, some long lost acquaintances which I vaguely remember meeting them once and people from NUS that I have met once who were huge fans of Corrinne just like yours truly here. I was seated in the center but at the last end, 3rd last row to be exact. :) The seat was great and I can see the stage clearly. I spotted Corrinne's family members, her grandmother and mom as well. Beautiful people. Her concert did not start on time sadly but it was forgivable because Corrinne made it up perfectly with her concert.

Moments before her concert started, her music crew came out. Slowly, one by one came out and then I saw a very familiar face. I saw her husband, Kavin and my heart screamed for him. I mean, nobody really cheered when he came out. He took his place and out came a lady which everybody knew it was Corrinne. From where I was seating, she looked really small to me but beautiful still. It was simply breathtaking when she sat down in front of the piano, adjusting her wires and then the camera went up to her and focused on her face. Beautiful lady, my heart exclaimed. She wore a black top, a tunic I think with a pair of black pants. She was simply dressed and her make up wasn't too overly over the top. One word - simplicity. She looked really good though. The crowds cheered and clapped for her as she got ready.

Songs that she performed last night.

Her first song, Angel In Disguise. The sound of the piano was beautiful beyond words. It was better than the sound of the piano in her album. It was just beautiful beyond any words can ever describe. Spotlights begin to lit up the stage and colored the hall with blue, purple and yellow. When the yellow or white lights shone on her, it was like an angelic sight. It was like as if she had a halo on top of her. Very nice. :D

On the side of me is her current single from her new album and it was the second song she performed. I have heard the song before on air in school and what can I say? The words to the song are splendid and just so real. The song was like a part of my life story being told, put into words and then being sang, beautifully in the end.

Next was Shelter. Okay, I have a confession to make. I cried when she sang the song. The words was so emotionally provoking and while she was singing the song, I was reflecting a lot on my friendship with a close friend of mine. My eyes were brimming with tears when she sang the first stanza which was very apt because when she mentioned ' your eyes watery red'. At some parts of the song, it brought back fond memories of me helping my friends get out of the rut they have been stuck into and then there were times which they refused to get out of it even when I held out my hands to reach them. At the end of the song, I drew a conclusion. To my close friend, whether will you be reading this or not, I just want you to know,

I am always there at your door waiting for you to call me because I want to ease your pain. :)

Scar (Stronger For Life) is a song that reminds us how each of us grow stronger from every fall, every pain we have to go through and every scar that formed serves us as a reminder that we are stronger, stronger for life to be exact. Just like what Corrinne said, every scar that is form, the tissues near our scar gets stronger just like us. With each painful moments of our dearly life, we learn to endure the excruciating pain and from there we just grow stronger and able to accept or tolerate much more painful moments coming our way.

Everything in its time. This song is what I call a spiritual song when I first listened to it. I loved the words on the song because it always reminds me of what God has in store for me. When she performed the song yesterday, it took me to another level. I felt that I have developed a much deeper understanding in the song with all the things happening lately. It was a moment of spiritually and emotionally development for me. It was like as if I had God right by my side and He was there witnessing and showering me with all his love and blessings. The feeling was just so magical.

Fly Away. This was the first song she performed taken from her first album. I got pretty emotional when I first listened to it and I was alone at that point of time. This time around, I was alone with strangers all around me and yes, there were time I felt emotional because I was very much into the lyrics and imagining if it happened to me. I think I liked it more when she sang this song live. You can feel her real, raw emotions when she delivered the song.

On My Way. I have to say, I loved this performance the most. I think it is one of her best performance for that night. Her performance was truly empowering and magical. She had a lot of those great Kodak moments which will etch in her fans' minds in this song. The song was great, total goodness. The words in it were more than just meaningful and very powerful as well. It was one performance which was so empowering, it was like I was literally lifted up from my seat. The music was oh my god, awesome! The sound was madness! It was real good stuff! When she sang the song, the words from the song just came out naturally and etched themselves in my heart and mind. And at each moment she sang the words 'on my way' it was like as if I was in a journey with her. I totally feel her and her song yesterday. It was undeniably magical beyond comprehension. If I can replay the time, I will replay that performance and relive it over and over again.

Her final song before transmission was Leaving. Coincidentally, I am listening to it now. Before she performed this song, she was very happy and thankful on the fact that Singapore is banning smoking in public places and she also feel sorry for the smokers as well. She was so cute when she said all these and she told the audience who are smokers, this is for them - main point, QUIT SMOKING. This performance was alright, it has a happy and the attitude kinda outlook but at some point, the music was too loud, it drowned her voice.

Green Eyed Monster was the first song after the transmission. I liked the way she used examples and analogies before started off her songs. Her analogies are all so cute, I swear and it was nice to see her smiling gleefully. I think the point that she mentioned something about Monster Inc and then it shifted to her husband was cute about Green Eyed Monster was ubber cuteness. :)

My Little Nephew is song written specially for her nephew. The words inside I must say were very touching and real. It was like she really penned down her thoughts, feelings and etc as an aunt to her nephew. In this performance, I saw the loving, motherly/aunty love side of her. :)

Slow Down. This song for me it was like a reflection of our lives as a Singaporean or people living in fast paced countries. Our lives are revolving so fast, we are moving so fast, we have little time for our loved ones. It is happening, like it or not. We are working our guts off everyday, we rarely spend time with our loved ones. Without realising, we are drifting away from them. Sad right? I know.

I must say, her performances were much much better after the transmission; her voice wasn't drown by the loud music.

Journey, clearly my row's favourite song because all of us were happy she performed it and we were singing with her. :)

5 loaves and 2 fishes ; in Corrinne's terms - 5 roti pratas and 2 otahs. :)
This song is meaningful and taught me one lesson. No gift is a small gift. I definitely left the hall learning a lesson which is very valuable. We should never underestimate the power of a gift, no matter how small it is. It was nicely performed and it was soothing to hear as well.

Beautiful Seed, my 2nd favourite performance for the night. It was another empowering performance for me. I felt better, so much better when I listened and watched her perform on stage with her piano. I felt lighter, confident and I know, I shouldn't belittle myself because I am a beautiful seed just like what Corrinne say. We were once this small insignificant seed in our mother's womb and then we grow to be a beautiful plant with so much potential in us. We can be anything or anyone we want to be. It was truly a great, positive feeling overwhelming me at the end of the song.

33. Farah loves this song, I suppose. :) End of story. :p This song is great and this was the final song of the concert. :(

*screams for encore encore*
Corrinne returned back to the stage. Sat down in front of her piano, adjusted her wires and said,

"I suppose you want to hear more of me. :)"

*start playing the piano*
This was the best moment of her concert ever. I heard the familiar piano tune and I couldn't help but to cheer loudly and uhm, I was the only one who screamed for my level. LOL. But it was well worth it because she was playing, my life theme song - Littlesuperherogirl. I was overjoyed beyond comprehension. I was smiling from ear to ear and singing along. My wish came true to watch Corrinne perform that song live. It was great, just so great. No words can express how happy I was. Two words ; SHEER EUPHORIA.

Her last and final song, Save Me. The song that made me fell in love with her.  & I fell in love with her all over again. :D

She also performed this two other songs from her Beautiful Seed - City Of Angels and Love Song For #1. It was great as usual and I loved them both especially Love Song For #1.

The concert was marvelous and beautiful just like how the title goes. The best concert I went for so far. Seeing Corrinne performing on stage, live was simply breathtaking and beautiful beyond any words I can ever find and just so you know, she is even much much more beautiful in person.

I waited for 2.5 hours just to see her upclose and personal. I am telling you, the waiting was well worthed it. I'd miss and give up anything to see her again. She is so friendly, nice, down to earth, sweet, BEAUTIFUL and very tone down. She autographed both her CD and the postcard I got. I really loved the way she said Adorra. It was so nice, nicer than J'thing calling me. I was very excited when I saw her that I actually screamed out her name when she was directly in front of me and she joined me in by screaming HI! and smiled widely to me. I told her she has been really wonderful and how glad I was when she performed Littlesuperherogirl. Then she asked me was I the one who screamed when she was performing that song because she heard somebody screaming. SHE HEARD ME! & before I left, she told me, the next time she performs that song and she hears somebody screaming, she knew it would be me. Sweet huh? :) (shut up, I don't need you to say, I am naive.)

My priceless possessions. :)

I love my Littlesuperherogirl Sr, Corrinne May. :)
