Fandom
It's been so long since I've really entered a new fandom that I'd kind of forgotten how hard it is sometimes to break into it. When I was in the height of my Buffy addiction all I needed was to write a few fics and through that I got to know a lot of the people.
Now I'm trying to break into a new fandom. It's tough. I've been lurking around various communities, but a lot of the people/communities won't add you unless you've posted regularly in the comms. Guess I'll have to get writing and commenting then! I'm hoping that when I go back to the UK later this year I'll be able to attend some of the gatherings being organized. It's easy to feel very removed living so far away from all the activity.
In other news, expect a detailed update sometime next week about my eventful Friday last week when I spent the day in jail. I got an interview for a drug and alcohol counsellor position...was a little apprehensive about visiting a prison, but felt rather like a secret agent with all the security and biometric scanning.
