How much ear buzzing can one take before the ear bleeds...?

1. Seriously. I think it's outside, but GOD, I want it to stop. Matt can't hear it. HOW?! Amanda and Mikey and I all hear it. EDIT: IT WAS THE CEILING FAN/LAMP IN THE DINING ROOM. AARRGGHH.

2. Work is...well, work. The LEAN team (basically a team that meets with new people every week to eliminate waste and streamline - ultimately, they clean crap and get rid of excess stuff) is just this ongoing nightmare. And they see my desk every day and just choke over the clutter. But apparently I'm in good company, because the only two desks worse than mine? Yeah, they belong to my manager and the department director. AND! All the clutter on my desk? It's WORK. All of it. They have NO idea how much I have. So I spent today just trying to clean and organize. It looks neater, but I haven't eliminated anything because it's literally ALL. WORK.

Anyway, they've also started the restructure process. In two weeks, I'll report directly to my manager. My cash peeps will have to call me if they're calling in sick, although Sue will thankfully be "in charge," which is good because I don't want to be a supervisor. Although she's planning on applying for one of the other manager positions opening up, so we'll see where things go. *rolls eyes*

3. Mary. I heard from her end of last week. I hadn't heard from her in about two and a half years. I had my Yahoo messenger up and suddenly she was online and I had a spam message from her. So I texted her to see if it was really her online.

It wasn't. And after explaining who I was - which was a hurt all on its own - she said her cell had been stolen and she'd lost all her contacts...and knows about ten Kims. God, I hate being one of many. Why is it that when there are other Kims around, I become less important to people? OK, I know it probably only seems that way, but-.* And then informed me that she's been "clean" for six months - which means she was hooked on drugs of some kind, most likely of the anti-depressant variety. She apologized for being a "shitty" friend and mentioned that she's not living with her husband anymore. And after I managed to text that I hoped she'd call me when she had a minute, I didn't hear from her again.

I'm so worried about her, and I've missed her more than ridiculously for the last couple years. But she lives in bloody Oklahoma. I am SO. SICK. of only having friends who live far away from me.

4. Beth lives here, of course, but she's hankering to go back home to Wisconsin, for which I can hardly blame her, really. I am so pleased that things might work out so well for her and her family, but for the next little while, I'm just going to be a little crushed. It's that poor loser syndrome thing, it'll fade, don't worry.

5. Finished Graceling and updated my reading list. Good book, though the ending wasn't quite what I expected.

6. Pulled my toenail out Sunday night. Sore toe when in a shoe, now.

7. Speaking of shoes:

Does anybody else covet these as much as I do? WANT.
FLUEVOG DOT COM. GO. SEE.

8. I'm throwing a baby shower for my sister in just under two weeks. I've never done this before, so I hope it won't be too lame...

*Yes, I am aware that I have issues. *sighs and rolls eyes at self*

here a little there a little, hi-ho hi-ho, omg shoes, good books don't bite, all kinds of deeper wonderment
