I've watched all the episodes so far, and I've enjoyed them all but I do have a complaint. And it's not exactly a minor complaint (not to me anyways).
The series is supposedly set in Santa Barbara. As a native, I can tell when their location shots (and the exterior sets themselves) don't mesh with the SB setting. For those not in the know, SB is a small coastal town of ~90 thousand people. We're roughly 90 miles north of LA. We do not have many huge buildings like have been shown in the first two episodes (I'll get to the 3rd in a bit). We have a small handful of three story buildings and The Granada Theater (at eight stories) is the tallest in the city and the only one taller then three.
Considering some of the location shots used (in the first two episodes) the director seems to be suggesting that SB has at least 500 thousand people living in it. We know the filmed in and around Vancouver and that it's cheaper to film in Canada, but couldn't they at least have taken some long distance location shots? If they didn't want to take location shots they could have chosen a city that looked more like Vancouver, like LA, or just made up a city. To set your TV show in existing city and not take any location shots is just plain sloppy.
I don't know if people complained about the inaccuracy or if they planned it in advance but they finally used location shots taken in Santa Barbara. The hotel they used for exterior shots is Fes Parker's Double Tree. The long arial shot they showed near the end had a clear (though distant) shot of downtown, no huge buildings in sight. I have no idea if they'll keep up the trend but I'll keep on watching even if they don't (I will keep complaining though).
Sorry, I do tend to ramble a bit but I hope I got my point across.
