work work work
I am super bored.... I thought I would post how my new job is going. I have officially kicked KFC to the curb January 26th 2007, even though I still visit because lets face it, I am a loser. Anyway, I have a job with the North American Family institute and I work in a group home for 8 teenage boys. Its going good so far.... I am getting more comfortable there. They keep telling me to talk more but its uncomfortable when people don't know you and are uncomfortable around you. After two weeks, they all know my name and say hi and actually ask me stuff, so its getting better. They have a different way of teaching them instead of punishment, they are all about natural consequences, which seems to work quite well. I've never "yelled" at anyone although its not yelling its more like reminding them how to act. They all act out when I am not there, so I haven't had to deal with that stuff yet. Other than that there is not much to report, I got my first paycheck from them but it sucked since I worked way less than half of what I would work and this next paycheck is going to have 6 hours overtime which is sweet. I am making almost 3 dollars more than at KFC which isn't great, but its my first real world job.. even though its not really real world because I found out you don't even need a degree to have this job... 4 years of "hard" work and it hasn't gotten me too far yet. I am crossing my fingers and hoping the social caseworker for RI comes up soon because that will be like.... over $15,000 more a year than I will be making at this new job. ok well I have to go because I have been up since 6 am and I didn't get much sleep last night.... later gators!!!
