There's a sci fi story called "Peripheral People" that clearly started as a Psych AU fic. But it does meet your criteria. I can't find the original anywhere, but despite the name changes the otherworldly setting the characters are totally familiar. I'd add the link but it makes LJ flag my comment as spam.
