[BTC] Kevin and Relena, August 27th, 2007 -- Talking
Relena:::Relena enters the pub. The atmosphere is a little smoky, the eternal cribbage game is going on next to the kitchen door. Maddie is waiting tables and calls to her. After a brief chat, Relena sits down at one of the tables with a cup of tea.
Kevin:*Walks into the pub and looks around, not spotting Relena immediately* *moves to the side of the door to keep looking*
Relena:::takes a sip of tea and considers the menu scribbled on the chalkboard::
Kevin:*keeps looking around and spots Relena at one of the tables* *makes my way over to where she is* Hi, Relena.
Relena:::lights up with a smile:: Kevin, hello! ::stands up to greet him:: It's so good to see you again. ::hugs::
Kevin:*hugs you back, smiling* *seats myself across from you* How are you?
Relena:I'm. . .all right. A little lonely, but it's nothing new.
Kevin:*frowns* *reaches over and takes your hand* Where is Heero?
Relena:He _was_ on a virus hunt but now? I don't know. Following his emotions I guess.
Kevin:*tilts my head and looks at you* *not sure what that means*
Relena:::smiles again:: Anyway, how have you been? How did the internship
work out?
Kevin:It went very well, thank you. I learned a lot about myself. Dr. Pierson said that is the most important part of doing it.
Relena:That's good. What are you planning to do now?
Kevin:I still want to work with kids. Adults are *pauses* harder for me. They need a different kind of care.
Relena:::nods:: I would imagine.
Relena:Well, I think it's wonderful and I'm sure you'll do well. You're very kind.
Relena:Would you like something? They have a wonderful fish and chips
Kevin:*colors and looks down* *softly* Not always.
Kevin:*nods* Thank you, that sounds very nice.
Relena:::catches Maddie and orders two fish and chips::
Relena:::after a brief silence:: Kevin? Can I help?
Kevin:With what?
Relena:Something's wrong, isn't it?
Kevin:*smiles a little though its forced* It's been difficult.
Relena:::leans forward to listen::
Kevin:I miss them.
Relena:I'm sorry.
Relena:It's not easy to be alone.
Kevin:*looks up* It's not your fault. *pauses* No, but some times it's better. *brightens* I am going to look for flats later this week then I'll have Bailey.
Relena:Oh, that's good. Nanki-Poo has been a comfort to me these past weeks.
Kevin:*smiles* I'm glad. How are you, Relena? *notes you look tired and sad*
Relena:I've been better. ::sips her tea to gather her thoughts:: I have my colleagues at work, but I have missed my friends.
Kevin:*softly* I'm sorry.
Relena:It's partially my own fault, I've been trying to "tough it out.":: light chuckle:: Guess I'm not so tough
Relena:::Maddie brings the fish and chips and the malted vinegar. They get more tea::
Kevin:*Softly* No one is that tough. Nor should they have to be. *takes a bite
of my fish* This is very good.
Relena:::smiles:: Yes, it is. ::pause:: Maybe some things are not meant to be and it's time to stop hanging on to something that is no longer there.
Kevin:Life does not always give us what we want. *toys with my fish and sets it down*
Relena:::sighs:: No it doesn't
Relena:::picks at her chips::
Kevin:*eats quietly for a minute watching you* Have you told Heero how you feel?
Relena:I haven't heard from him in a long time. I don't know why.
Kevin:Oh. *struggles to find the words* Are you sure that he is okay? Nothing has happened to him?
Relena:::bitterly:: What could happen to the indestructable perfect soldier?
Relena:No, he's checked in with his work when he's supposed to. I found that out, but when I've tried to contact him. ::shrug::
Kevin:No one is indestructable. Or perfect. *slowly* Breaking out is difficult and Heero had problems with his.
Relena:True
Kevin:I wish I had an answer for you. *can see the pain in your eyes*
Relena:I wish I had an answer for _you_ as well.
Kevin:I think I know what mine is. *forces myself to take another bite even though my apetite is quickly disappearing*
Relena:::sprinkles some more malt vinegar on the fish:: Oh?
Kevin:I don't belong with Cat and Tro. *swallows the lump in my throat and pushes my food away feeling slightly ill*
Relena:::starts to rise:: Kevin?
Kevin:I'm sorry. *forces myself to smile*
Relena:::comes over to stand next to you:: No, no, it's not your fault. What's happening?
Relena:::Concerned patrons, most from the hospital come over, but Relena assures them that she and Kevin are all right. She gets him a glass of water::
Kevin:*stands up* Would you like to go for a walk? I'm not feeling very hungry. *pulls out my wallet to pay*
Relena:::nods:: all right, I haven't been very hungry either. Why don't you let me pay half?
Kevin:*shakes my head* My treat. *puts some bills on the table and thanks the waitress* *reassures her the food was fine*
Relena:::smiles::
Relena:You are a gentleman, Kevin.
Kevin:*colors* Thank you. *follows you across the room and out of the pub*
