First, I want to thank those of you who commented on my previous posts. I don't have the time to reply to them individually, but I want you to know that I appreciate your kind words and all of your encouragement, it really is a confidence booster, and is more valuable to me than I can express.
Things are going well at the shop, and I am still learning things everyday. I couldn't ask for a more suited opportunity for myself, and I continue to be grateful for the chances I am given everyday.
I read somewhere that in addition to love of all things tattoo and art related, another thing one needed to become a successful tattoo artist was 'a touch of carnie'. I am finding that indeed, and outlandish style or bold personality really do make a difference. If I go to the shop all made up and psychobillied out, I'm finding that the customers just naturally come to me thinking I am the shop's artist, and almost look let down when I point them in the direction of the REAL artist in the house. Well, until they see his work that is, since he is amazing. In light of this, I am reinventing myself slightly.
I will be tattooing under the name, Betty Voodoo.
I have decided to specialize in Traditional Americana tattoo art, and the plan is to enter a bit of WWII era/Voodoobilly flair into my workspace and personal appearance.
I am having alot of fun with this aspect of the trade, and I look forward to the day when I can call myself a tattoo artist.
I have some more photos for you under the cut. My latest grapefruit maiming, and the newest photo of me at my station at the shop. Did I tell you they set up a station for me there?! SO exciting!!!
