From the Horses Mouth
I posted earlier that my little boy Cullen had entered this life. Currently he is in the NICU because the little one is having trouble keeping his blood sugar up. His pancreas is producing too much insulin which means his blood sugar level keeps canning. He is on an IV drip and continuous feed through a tube.
There are many different reasons why this could be happening but easier to cure than to go hunting for a reason. Unfortunately we are at that point where it is time to go reason hunting because the little guy can't stay on an IV drip and feeding tube for the rest of his life. So last night they drew blood from my dear sweet wife to see how her blood sugar was over the last 3 months. (Note she was tested for Gestational Diabetes and it came up negatory, but it doesn't hurt to check.) Today he is getting a CAT scan to check check for insulin producing growths and areas of his pancreas that are over producing.
Many times this is transient and will pass with time, which is my hope. Bad news first. His insulin test came back: it is kind of high. Out of control would be more appropriate. Good news they are backing off of the iv drip. Every day his blood sugar dips it doesn't go as low as the day before, so one can say the graph has a trend that shows general improvement. Other than this he is generally healthy.
Other News: Wife is ok. Her hypertension is slowly going away but any bad news screws with this. I am generally ok. I am eating enough and resting enough to continue. A little sad at times but that is to be expected. Thank you for the well wishes, warm thoughts, prayers, candles and the like.
