OW!

Well it was bound to happen. I went down with the motorcycle on 8/29. I was going to go through Decker Canyon because I didn't know what anyone was up to and was a little bored with waiting around. But I get started going a little too fast. I round a bend going about 35mph, not a decker-canyon bend, just a small one, and come across an unfamiliar intersection. Being bright and quick on my feet I decide I need to brake to figure out which way to go, there are no really visible signs. But I start breaking and look at the hill to the center of these two paths, I then get close to the hill, panic and slam harder on the breaks. I feel it get loose below me and next thing I know I'm going to kiss the payment with my helmet. So I fall on my helmet and shoulder and slide about 20 feet or so, thinking all the while: "Holy crap that was stupid of me, what a horrible day!". I come to a stop and am very very sore, I get to my feet and brush myself off. Some people ahead of me saw me go down and stopped to help me get the bike back up and make sure I'm alright. My left shoulder is very sore and hurts like hell and my leather jacket is town to shit. I can still move things around though fairly well. The only damage to the bike is the peg that comes off the shifter arm was broken off with some minor damage to the front fairing. I had my backpack on with my laptop, because I thought afterwards I'd go to Starbucks and just play around with my laptop waiting for people to give me a call back. It was undamaged luckily. After parking my bike at some stranger's house, hanging out by the pool eating watermelon and icing my arm with complete strangers I went for an ER visit with Carmen. The wait is what really sucked. I got an X-Ray and a CT scan, and sat in the ER for 4 hours waiting to be told that I fractured my Scapula (Shoulder blade). The tests took about 30 minutes total, but waiting for the ER doctor to actually look at the results and present a diagnosis took forever. But I'm thankful it was nothing serious. I had my arm in a sling for a week though, couldn't do much except watch Star Trek TNG and other shows. Vicodin became my best friend to help me sleep. Now I'm doing Physical Therapy for the arm and twisting it occasionally to be in a lot of pain. But other than that, I can now type with two hands! I can't wait to go riding again. I want to trade my bike for a Buell though, I really dislike the brakes on my bike.
