This will only be amusing to people who play the Sims 2.

As we all know, Sim intelligence is at an all time high - and yet it is still so low. Especially when it comes to getting around a place or person. If there's anything in the way, they stamp their foot and thier thought bubble displays x's and footsteps. Instead of walking around the table the other damn way to pick their plate up off the floor, they get all frustrated and give up. Additionally, you have to be sure to not make your house too big because we all know it takes everyone 10 minutes to walk down your average flight of stairs. It takes my sims about 20 minutes to walk across their house. I didn't have a big problem with this until last night.

You see, I decided to try out a little experiment. So I built a lovely maze. As you can see, its not a very large maze, and its not a very difficult maze. I made my sim "Go Here" and then I built her into the maze so the only way out was the exit, and clicked "Go Here" - I didn't even try the command before doing that, we all know it would have just walked right out the way it came and three feet over.

Now, I was only slightly surprised when she wasn't fooled in the least. She went right through that maze without making any false turns. I thought there was a chance she'd wander around a little and stomp her feet becase there's a wall in the way - after all, this is the same Sim who walks the whole way around the house to use the back door from the mailbox to go to the living room instead of going through the front door which is right friggin' there. After sharing in my dissapointment, Aaron pointed out that the computer knows.

But here's the part that really pissed me off:
She *RAN* the maze.
That's right. My Sim made it to the exit in under a minute.
They can't walk from the front door to the mailbox in under a minute!

*sigh*
If only they could be trained.
Then they wouldn't insist on putting the bills and espresso cups on the tabletop in the kids bedroom.
