who cooks normally?
how often do they fight?
Damn do I need an Empires icon. And yay! I always want to talk about Sean/Max! :D

what do they do when they’re away from each other?
This doesn't actually happen that often--they tour together and then they head home from tour together, and they usually visit each other's families together, too, and they don't really notice how they're kind of codependent until this one weekend when Sean goes out west to one of his cousins' wedding, and Max stays home, and they realize after Sean has already flown in, gone to the wedding, and is at the hotel for the night, that they can't think of the last time they spent a night apart. Max works in the studio instead of sleeping, but Sean wakes up in the middle of the night and calls him, and makes him stay on the phone till he falls asleep, and Max falls asleep on the phone with him. Sean flies home the next day, and in his head he's already decided he won't be doing that again any time soon.

nicknames for each other? Not really. Sometimes when they were ( ... )

who started the relationship?
Well, Sean made the first move, initiated the first kiss, but Max definitely was the first one to start acting like it was a relationship, or at least, acted any different because of it. It only took him a little while to realize that Sean wasn't acting differently not because he wasn't acting like they were together, but because he'd been acting like that the whole time.

who cusses more?
They both, casually, and they don't really make a big deal of it or notice it unless they're suddenly around children, or something.

what would they do if the other one was hurt?
If either one of the was seriously hurt, I think there would be a lot of internal freaking out. I think Max would get kind of bossy and a little reaserch-ey and very short-tempered, and Sean would get very quiet and thoughtful and looking at his hands. If one of them was slightly but not badly hurt, I think there would be a lot of slightly nervous joking around.

oh man if Max got slightly hurt I bet Sean would be ALL OVER that -- he would be right there with the box of bandaids telling Max to hold still while Max rolls his eyes and tells him it's not that bad, and he'd have to concentrate really hard because injuries make him a little squeamish but he can't let that get in the way, Max is HURT and NEEDS HIM RIGHT NOW and Sean will be there for him even if picking gravel out of someone's palm is really gross and he's really worried that he's going to do something wrong and hurt Max even worse than he already is. And then afterwards, once everything is all clean and bandaged and antiseptic ointment-ed, only then does Sean get out the Jameson to calm their nerves and cuddle up with Max on the couch and make him look it up on WebMD so they can make sure he did it right.

(........pretty sure that was like, two sentences o____o)

SHIT, YES, THAT IS SO TRUE. He would get SO INVOLVED in any minor injury! For real, hearts in my eyes.

I can't shake the feeling that, in the event of anything serious, though, he would get kind of out of his depth and inadequate-feeling, and stick really close, but not say much.

YES, CORRECT. If anything went really wrong he'd probably break a few speed limits driving Max to the emergency room, but once they were there he'd just follow along looking all hollow-eyed and forlorn, driving himself a little sick with worry because all he can do is stick it out and *see* if things will be okay, there's nothing he can do to *make* it that way ( ... )

THESE ARE SUCH GOOD THOUGHTS TO HAVE.

YESSSSS though, Max being the kind of hurt where Sean actually could not do anything to help would be pretty muc the worst feeling for him, I can see it being one of those things where Max sees Sean get all quiet and withdrawn and hopeless-looking and feels BAD, so he tries to make Sean feel BETTER, and Max being hurt and still trying to cheer Sean up would make him feel WORSE and ugh, it would be such a mess, it would have to end in so much super-careful, hospital bed cuddling.

Or imagine if it was a scenario where something WAS seriously not okay with Max but it wasn't an EMERGENCY, it was just one of those things where the doctors couldn't tell what was going on right away and they sent him to someone else, and there was tons of waiting around at home for results to come in or for a specialist to call back, because it wasn't like Max was super sick unto the death RIGHT THEN, it's just that they couldn't explain symptom X and they wanted to get to the bottom of it before it got any worse.........that kind of thing would just absolutely kill Sean inside. Max would try and make him feel better but Sean would know that wasn't right, Max shouldn't be the one who has to take care of himself AND Sean...but there's nothing that Sean can DO except hang around and wait and hope, and when he does that it makes Max's eyes go all sad and he tries to comfort Sean, and they're right back where they started :( So it's just all these circles of dejection and guilt and uselessness and it's the worst thing ever for all the ( ... )

That is such a sad scenario! Why do I suddenly want that fic to exist like burning? Because YES, Sean would not deal with that well, would know he was not dealing with it well, would not deal well with the fact that he was not dealing with it well, and Max would see all of this and try to FIX IT, which Sean would feel guilty about, and which would also kind of suck for Max, because this is kind of freaking him out, too, and really, he just wants Sean to come to the appointment with him and be all bright and positive and energetic, like normal, but it's not like he can ASK for sean to just act like normal.

Oh man, I bet while Max is all non-specifically sick, Sean goes and buys, like A TON of canned soup, it is all they eat for weeks, it is frustrating Max to no end, he just wants something solid to chew on, but it makes Sean feel better to make him soup, so Max eats it, and then sneaks off later to grab a burger with Tom.

lolololol YES THIS. You have no idea how hard it was for me not to type "and then he made him soup and/or popsicles" in there at a zillion different places. Because it would make Sean feel like he was helping! It's generic, but it's all he can do! ;_______ ( ... )

YESYESYES. So much communication would need to happen! And none of it even in song! I have no real idea what Max's mystery sickness would be, and my heart protests against giving him anything too dire, but the longer working-shit-out period would end up being so good for them in the long run!

Also, i would totally listen to that playlist (and, um, may actually have a few potential versions of it on my itunes--how did Jon Walker and Laura Stevenson get so tied up in our heads, anyway?)

One of the things that we are lacking in Empires fic (aside from EVERYTHING AT ALL, REALLY) is h/c, and it was only in this thread that I really started specifically regretting that.

THEY REALLY ARE. They are just so wonderful, i love them like crazy.

From that point on, btw, Sean decides that Max has to come along to all of his family things, so Sean's family will know him and love him, because he's pretty sure it's impossible to know Max and not love him, so that any future weddings, Seans family will totally WANT to invite Max to.

IT TOTALLY WORKS. This is the situation where they end up noticing that they swear a fair amount, too, because they somehow get known as the part of the family to call to babysit the baby cousins. Tom thinks this is hilarious.

lolz lolz lolllllz Sean and Max babysitting wee bb cousins! And having to watch their mouths! TOO CUTE. And the bb cousins are probably all like, "That's another quarter in the swear jar, Uncle Max!" The swear jar is probably Tom's idea, he probably told the kids they could keep the money when it was time for them to go home and now Sean and Max CAN'T BACK OUT >:) They also can't seem to stop swearing, old habits go HARD.
