Wow, my subject line is an alliteration. I bet I couldn't do that again if I tried.

This message is for those who have been directed here from other places...that particular post, is no longer public. And here's why:

1. My PERSONAL opinion, about my disappointment in the Browncoat turnout at Polaris 21, is being spread across the internets as being said by Polaris ConCom as a whole. I do not speak for Polaris or the TCon Promotional Society. I speak for myself. Since other ConCom members have alerted me to the fact that my words were being taken out of context and twisted to represent ConCom, I saw no reason to keep my post public.

2. I DO NOT decide which guests are chosen. There is a board that makes those decisions within a budget. Plus, they really do look at the surveys that are sent back by the attendees.

3. Since many of those who are twisting my words didn't actually read the comments to that post, I'd like to highlight this particular bit:

Part of it is, as you know, they [Firefly/Serenity guests] are priced in the upper realm. These are not even "medium" priced guests. They are double the most we've paid for a guest. And if the community cannot support one we can afford, we simply won't take a chance on one that is out of our reach and could potentially bankrupt us. It would be blatantly irresponsible to do so. Had this community shown [financial] support for this guest, we might have been able to demonstrate that we should take a chance on a guest that is out of reach financially, being reasonably secure that we might be able to make a good portion of the money back...

Alas, that is not what happened. So new decisions will be made.

So, to recap: While I'm amused that what I say seems to carry so much weight out there, this is my personal journal and that's all that it is -- personal musings.

End of story.
