Hi guys, major question. I'm using PSP9 and I'm wondering how to keep my transparent background transparent?! I save it with the transparent background but it just saves to white! Can someone help me?
No -- you don't need to use AS3. (smile) I'm guessing you've never used the Export feature before, but it's quite handy! Especially when dealing with transparency.
You might want to take a look at THIS TUTORIAL on how to create a 'Glass Button' effect. Go down to the very last step (34), which explains how to Export an image to the .gif format.
Anyway, those steps are as follows:
Go to File > Export > GIF Optimizer. Settings: Transparency Tab Existing image or layer transparency - selected Partial Transparency Tab Top: Use full transparency... (set to 1) Bottom: No... - selected Colors Tab Select: 256, 100 and Optimized Octree OK
As you probably know, saving as a GIF means that you end up with a slightly 'jagged' outside edge. There doesn't appear to be any way around this, I'm afraid. But it does allow you to put the round button on any web page and have the background display around it -- rather than end up with a square image. Some people prefer to use the .png format -- but the problem is that not all browsers support .png transparency. So while you might be seeing a really nice image with perfect transparency, another person might be seeing your supposedly transparent image with a solid background! So I tend to advise against using .png...
YAY!!!!!! *Hugs!!!!!!* O.O sorry I couldn't control myself! It worked! Thank you so so so so much! *Squee!* You're the best, I'm glad glad to have joined such an awesome place where people take the time to help you and treat others with respect! Thanks again!
