Pump timer underway

May 24, 2012 20:25

The visit to Brite-Lite showed me some really expensive timers that were based on analog technology, and cost a bundle.  To save money and to put some of my education into practice, I made a circuit based on an Arduino.

Basically, I bought 5VDC relays that can control 120VAC loads.  This way, I can precisely control the time on and time off of the pump numerically!

In the future, I plan to implement a 5-button menu interface with a LCD screen.  That would allow me to make changes without having to connect to my computer.

In other news, one sprout is growing, but one has died.  I've started some news ones using a Tupperware container and paper towel.
