After a lengthy discussion with my new Derma, I'm being switch from topical stuff that has become useless to me over the years to Humira. Pending insurance approval (~3 weeks they say). So...experiences with Humira? Side effects? Advice? Most importantly, are you happy with it

The main thing - if you screw up an injection, don't feel bad. I did ok at my first one (in the dr's office). My second one (first at home and of course by myself aurgh!) I screwed up and it went all over the floor - I felt like an idiot and rang the help line freaking out I'd have to cover the whole cost of a new one (I didn't, they gave me a free one just that once). I did one more in the Dr's office and I was fine. The next attempt at home was super easy. I think it's a physcological thing (at least I found it is) more than the pain...which I didn't feel was worse than an immunisation, you just need to make sure you keep it out of the fridge for at least 15 mins. I didn't even have any tenderness at the injection site after about an hour (I do the thigh, haven't tried the stomach yet). I found getting it ready, putting it on your skin and going "1, 2, 3, click" is the easiest way to do it. The only issue I really had was fighting the urge to flinch and pull the pen away when the needle goes in (my Dr suggested I have my husband hold his hand over mine the first few times to counter-act me pulling it away- It is weird but seriously, after the first few you really will wonder what all the fuss is about.
If you go to the Humira website, they have video demo of it - you really don't ever seen the needle it is all automatic .
